Beastie Boys Square / Peace Sisters T-Shirt!

Saturday, September 9th marked a historic civic event in NYC when the corner of Ludlow & Rivington in the Lower East Side was renamed Beastie Boys Square.

And Peace Sisters had the great honor to participate in the celebration through a feature on the back of the commemorative Tees4Togo T-shirt that was designed by Mike Nicholas.

The full text on the Tee reads:

Thanks to your generous support, Peace Sisters has been able to increase the number of students we reach to over 480 girls in Dapaong, Togo, West Africa. All students who receive our assistance are underprivileged in some way and all of them would have likely discontinued their studies by now if it were not for the work of Peace Sisters, which could not happen without you.

After many years of petitioning the city counsel board, activist LeRoy McCarthy made this street naming a reality, and along the way he reached out to Peace Sisters and Tees4Togo to see how we might get involved. We are so appreciative of LeRoy, the Beastie Boys, and our Ambassador Kathleen Hanna who helped shine a light on Peace Sisters during this event and promoted fundraisers for us that day!

For a short time only, you can still buy your own limited-edition Beastie Boys Square Tee, complete with Peace Sisters logo and slogan!! Wear your support for Peace Sisters proudly and help get the word out about what we do to help Girls Empower Themselves in Togo, West Africa! All proceeds benefit Peace Sisters.
