45 New High School Graduates…
The Peace Girls did exceptionally well in the 2022-23 school year. We saw the overall success rate of the girls who took high stakes exams increase to 89%, and 45 Seniors passed the strenuous BAC-2 exam to graduate from high school.
We attribute much of this success to the support we received last year from the US Embassy to expand our tutoring program. And we would love to run this program again from November-May of this school year, so please consider donating now to keep our tutoring running at full capacity!
A Growing Network of Peace Girls...
As the number of girls reaching the level of higher education increases, Peace Sisters is always working to improve the supports we provide for these distinguished scholars to ensure their success.
Peace Sisters is actively building a sisterhood network for girls who lack sufficient support in their homes. Through this network, we hope the girls in our program will not only find paying jobs when they complete their education but will also remain active role models in the Peace Sisters community.
Getting Ready for College...
Last month, several Professors from the University of Kara were invited to visit Dapaong to hold orientation sessions with the graduates. Sessions were held both in groups and individually to advise the girls on what to expect as they embark upon a higher education.
Taking both their academic records and personal interests into account, the young women deliberated on whether a university degree would be right for them. Some of them have determined that other forms of vocational school would be a better fit as they considered practical concerns such as the job market that awaits them after finishing school and their family obligations.
We are proud to support these young women as they make informed choices about their futures, and we can’t wait to see them continue to succeed!
The New Beginning...
Many of us have enjoyed watching our kids, grandkids, and neighbors head back to school over the last month. It's been a flurry of new clothes, new supplies, and smiling faces for a new beginning! The same process is underway in Togo right now as the school year is set to begin on September 25th...
It would be lovely if you could take a moment to think about just how much we spend for our kids to go to school. And if you can afford it, please consider pitching in to help with this new beginning for a girl in Togo as well. It still only costs about $40 for a girl to attend middle school or high school for a year!!
Supplies for the New School Year…
Amongst other things, Peace Sisters has supplied text books, notebooks, and maxi pads for all the girls in our program to make sure they get off to a good start!
Over 90 Peace Girls are now eligible to study at the University or Trade School Level, making our program increasingly expensive to support. Please consider making a tax deductible donation today to ensure all of these girls have a chance to Empower Themselves through Education!
