A Bold New Initiative!

A Tutoring Session in Dapaong, Togo

The Learning Loss Is Real.

Schools all over the world are making great strides right now in returning their classrooms to a semblance of normalcy, and meanwhile it has become painfully clear that many students have fallen behind over the course of the pandemic.

When we look at the data, the girls in our program are no exception:

A Call to Action...

When we realized that the success rate of the girls in our program had reduced by nearly 10% over a single school year, we determined that something would have to be done to ensure the girls could regain their prior success.

Over the years, we had already been studying the possibility of providing tutoring for the girls, and we soon realized that now is the time to act. Our team in Togo sprang into action and quickly identified the best path forward to providing girls the support they will need to emerge from the pandemic.

199 girls have already begun attending tutoring sessions at 8 schools!

The Pilot as Partnership...

We are proud to announce that this program has been made possible through a partnership with the Togolese Ministry of Education! By allowing us to use school classrooms to conduct the tutoring program, this local in-kind donation has saved us over $5,000 USD in operating costs!!

We are heartened by the vote of confidence that the local government has shown by investing in our work in this way.

Quantity AND Quality...

Furthermore, we are thrilled that our program is expanding in a way that not only addresses the quantity of girls who can access education, but also seeks to improve the quality of instruction they receive. We are hopeful that this new initiative will demonstrate impact by returning the success rates of the students to near pre-covid levels.
