Broadening Horizons

Peace Girls are starting to...

Dream Big!

Opening Doors...

So much goes into helping a girl succeed, and we at Peace Sisters strive every day to take a holistic approach. We are always listening to the girls ideas, and we are always seeking out new opportunities for them.

Recently, the Indian Embassy in Togo invited the 22 university students in our program to attend a launch event for a new partnership between India and Togo that promotes studying abroad. With this partnership came news of increased opportunities for scholarships to study in India with an emphasis on engineering and technology!

Contemplating opportunities in another country - let alone on another continent - is a big deal for anyone. For the Peace Girls it is monumental, and we support them in pursuing these dreams.

Studying abroad may have seemed impossible not so long ago.

Broadening Horizons...

The Indian Embassy event took place in Lomé, which is the capital of Togo and is situated a full day's drive away from where the girls grew up. Whereas 8 of the students already attend university in Lomé, the additional 14 university students attend in Kara, a smaller city much closer to home.

Many of the students had never visited their capital city before, and as such they had never seen many of the spectacular sights that many of us take for granted: the ocean, an airport, a hotel with an elevator! All of which they can now confidently say they have seen with their own eyes.
